Burning Copyrighted Dvd - Is It Legal?

Ever wanted your own DVD movie collection but didn't want to pay the full price for all the DVDs? Well apparently burning copyrighted DVD seems to be the new solution to that problem. I wouldn't say that this is the best solution but it is legal to a certain extent. Unfortunately with the materials being available at a cheap price it's really hard not to be tempted by this illegal method. But don't worry, here you'll find the explanation of what's a copyrighted DVD, what's legal and what's not and a quick tip on how to burn copyrighted DVDs. Please note our intention is not to help you create any legal commerce of copyrighted DVDs but to help you understand what it really is and how you can use it legally.

When you go to the computer store and purchase any DVDs odds are they will be copyrighted. In simpler terms this means you can use the DVD after you bought it but you're not allowed to make money off of it. This is the most important part of the copyright. Of course it's more specific than that but basically this isn't what you're allowed to do. Usually the copyrights will cover a few major points such as redistribution of illegal copies, piracy and personal use. When you buy your DVD it's written clearly that you are only allowed to use this if it is for personal use. If you are unsure of what you can and cannot do with the DVD make sure you read the notice carefully because sometimes there are a few loopholes which can be taken advantage of.

Let's see, after reading their notice carefully you'll probably realize that the company forgot to mention some points. Well this is where it can benefit you legally of course. but before going into what's legal and let's start with what's illegal. Using another one DVD for commercial use is illegal and usually to do that you need to make a copy. Making the copy itself is not considered illegal yet but trying to distribute it whether it's for free or for a price may become illegal if it's written in the DVD copyrights notice. if you already own a copy of the DVD and want to make a backup of it for home or personal use, there would be no problem to that but if you create a copy and send it to a friend or pass it to a friend and get caught, you could face some serious charges. If you still plan to burn a copyrighted DVD I will give you a quick tip but you will always see this FBI message at the beginning of your movie to remind you not to step out of the boundaries.

Since most copyrighted DVDs, actually all copyrighted DVDs come with a certain level of protection you will need some additional tools in order to bypass these protections. Again it is only illegal if you plan on using the DVDs for yourself which is why I will let you know how you can bypass the protection. In order to burn a DVD properly you will need a DVD copy software which will allow you to Create a backup of the copyrighted DVD and copy it onto a blank DVD. But that's not all you will need an additional tool which is called a DVD decrypter. This last tool is what will help you bypass the security features on a copyrighted DVD. Basically you're not breaking the law it, you're actually bending it to its full extent.

You see, burning copyrighted DVD can be enjoyed safely if you respect the guidelines. You probably realize that I did not mention any software for the sole reason that there are so many out there available it would take me forever to cover all of them so this is up to you. in a way you eventually do need the original copy in order to be able to make a backup but if you received a copy then you wouldn't need the original one any more.
