So let's say you have a 16X drive well if it comes with a rewritable option it will write at 8X. There are also some DVD burners that offer dual layer capabilities, you will need to make sure you have the right drive and the right discs in order to burn a DVD properly. If either one is missing then you should probably exchange the product for another one or just return it. An external DVD burner is a little bit more expensive but it's worth it because not only does it come with a protective case but you can also use it on different computers. Even if you have space for an internal drive you'll probably feel that an external drive may offer a lot more advantages and it's a small price to pay get those advantages.
